ENIGMAS
I enjoy capturing images that tickle the imagination. It may take you a moment or two to understand what you're seeing. Perhaps a bit mysterious, enigmatic, even haunting? I hope you enjoy them.
These ghostly images reminded me of the tale of the Roman soldiers that mysteriously disappeared while defending Hadrian's wall in second century England-Scotland. Spooky. This amazing photo won an award and was published in Black & White Magazine, February 2022.
EVOCATIVE FACES
I was pretty much a landscape photographer until I met the famous photographer and teacher Sam Abel. He taught me the fine art of street photography. And I discovered the fun, and challenges, of photographing people.

SEASCAPES
I live on Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest, one of the most beautiful places on our incredibly beautiful planet. So I've been fortunate to have been able to capture captivating seascapes, many right here on Whidbey Island and able to travel to other equally dramatic and beautiful places.
MOUNTAINS
I moved from Wisconsin to the Pacific Northwest in 1988. I was completely taken by the mountains, especially the volcanoes. I made it a goal to climb all five in my first year living in Washington. Well four out of five is still pretty good.
Sunrise at 8,000 feet in the Canadian Rockies. Started hiking at 3 AM. It was cold. Bears were moving into hibernation. Fresh mountain snow overnight and heavy frost. I yelled across the lake for Maxum, my guide and climb partner, to stand still for a very long exposure. I titled it 'Reflections' not only because of the mountains reflected on the water but I also imagined myself standing were Maxum is, staring at the awesome peaks and reflecting on my father's death just weeks before.
